The Soltech company Fasadsystem commissions Skåne’s largest solar façade in Staffanstorp

Fasadsystem i Stenkullen has now installed and commissioned Skåne’s largest solar façade on the car rental company Sixt’s property in Staffanstorp, in southern Sweden. The solar façade has an installed capacity of 55.8 kWp and combines energy production with aesthetics and shows the great potential of integrating solar energy into the building’s architectural design. The installation was commissioned at the end of May 2025 and is expected to produce about 30,000 kWh annually.

Fasadsystem is an industry leader in glass and aluminium façades as well as building-integrated solar facades, where solar panels replace and complement the classic façade material. The company has been part of the Soltech Group since 2020 and has over the years designed and installed solar facades on several larger properties, such as commercial properties and apartment buildings. Now the company has installed another solar façade. This time for the car rental company Sixt in Staffanstorp.

The integrated solar panels cover approximately 450 sqm in area and are complemented by a 407 sqm glass façade, which together create an aesthetically pleasing façade. The installation is an example of how properties can utilize otherwise unused space and become active energy producers. The solar panels are expected to generate about 30,000 kWh of renewable electricity annually.

– This installation shows how solar can be seamlessly integrated into the facades of buildings. By creating an energy source of the façade, we are taking advantage of areas that would otherwise not contribute to renewable energy production, and it feels extra great that this is now the county’s largest solar façade. We see a growing interest in this type of solution as more and more property owners are starting to open their eyes to the benefits of building integrated solar façades, says Krister Landén, Business Manager Region South at Fasadsystem.

Solar electricity for the property and electric cars
The property owner Sixt is pleased with the installation, which is now starting to produce electricity for the business and not least for the charging of their electric cars. The investment is therefore important from a cost perspective but above all part of the long-term sustainability work.

– We are proud of the investment in a renewable energy solution that is also aesthetically pleasing. The solar façade symbolizes the approach in our sustainability efforts as it will not only be a boost for the property but also contribute to lower energy costs and produce green electricity for our electric cars. Promoting sustainability from several perspectives and also contributing to a more sustainable society have been the driving forces for us in this investment, says André Sjöblom, Regional Manager at Sixt.
